About the Artist
Nature has long been a source of inspiration for artistic creation. Painters, sculptors, photographers, and others observe nature, then recreate and incorporate the wonderful shapes, colors, textures, and patterns found in natural forms. If imagination is added to observation, artists' creations can break the laws of nature and even have a little fun. Although often calm and restrained, Peggy's porcelain forms may spontaneously dance together, embrace one another, gather for conversation or joyously twirl around. Hopefully their activity will be revealed if the viewer observes with an imaginative eye. Peggy Fowler is one of the newest members of the Clayworks community, becoming a resident artist in the fall of 2007. Her small scale sculptural vessels are inspired by her observations of nature found in the Maryland landscape, her garden and the local farmer’s market. Her work has been featured in regional and national exhibitions and she recently received a purchase award in the 2008 International Orton Cone Box Show hosted by Baker University in Baldwin, KS.
