About the Artist
Sarah House, a Baltimore native, earned her BFA in Ceramics from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in 2006. She was awarded the Windgate Fellowship for emerging artists and traveled to Hungary where she became an Artist in Residence at the International Ceramics Studio. Sarah creates sculpture and installations, as well as drawings, paintings, functional glass and pottery. Her work offers a fresh perspective in porcelain and innovative dimensions in slip casting. Focusing primarily on installation and sculptural works, Sarah borrows mathematical patterns such as spirals and fractals. These vortexes she creates offer dialogue about celestial bodies, human existence, and infinite scale. She has exhibited her works nationally in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Maine, Ohio, Washington and Kansas, as well as internationally in Kecskemet, Hungary. She is currently a Resident Artist and an Instructor at The Baltimore Clayworks, as well as a faculty member at The Community College of Baltimore County.
